SMU EMBER
SMU Ember is a Community Service club under SICS and we provide opportunities for students in SMU to serve the community and build relationships through our CSP Projects. Embers are left behind after a fire is burnt, but can be rekindled with enough effort. Similarly, we aim to reach out to those who haven fallen through the cracks in society and left them up again.

Our Mission is to develop students into passionate volunteers who will serve with a heart and purpose by connecting them to those in need.

Our Vision is to inspire students to become charitable people who will make a meaningful and sustained impact on society

OUR PROJECTS
project GENWORKS
Project Genworks aims to serve lonely and vulnerable seniors who have difficulty in maintaining the condition of their house. Volunteers can extend their help and connect with these seniors who are residing at Geylang Bahru through our bi-weekly sessions that are held on Saturday morning from 9am-1pm.
During each session, volunteers can interact with the seniors in different ways. There will be cleaning, befriending and planned activity sessions which includes taking seniors out for a meal or even a walk around the neighborhood.
Come join us for some fun-filled intergenerational interaction with the seniors!
project HWSOP
SMU Ember is collaborating with Heartware Network for their Heartware Support Our Pioneers Programme (HWSOP). This project aims to serve the needs of vulnerable seniors who have fallen through the cracks of existing social safety nets. Volunteers will be participating in bi-weekly home visitations which involve befriending and conducting of in-house activities.
HWSOP reaches out to seniors at Yishun, Taman Jurong, Tanjong Pagar, Lengkok Bahru and Pasir Ris. Sessions will be held bi-weekly on a Saturday.
Join us and together we can play a part in bridging the widening intergenerational gap in our communities!
